So, WTF is DPL and NIR?

DPL (Dye Pulsed Light)

Targets the hair follicle with precision light energy, permanently reducing hair growth across a wide range of hair types and skin tones –  including finer, lighter hair that older IPL machines struggle with.
By swapping the filter, the same machine can also target different depths in the skin to treat pigmentation, redness, broken capillaries, and skin laxity. 

NIR (Near-Infrared Therapy)

The same machine as used in DPL, but with a different attachment, NIR gently heats the skin’s collagen cells, triggering natural cell renewal without any damage or downtime. You won’t feel much while it’s happening – but give it a few hours, and your skin will look like you’ve got a Snapchat filter on. It can be added on to any treatment or booked as a standalone facial.

NIR Treatment

Near-infrared (NIR) therapy works by gently heating the skin’s collagen cells, stimulating natural cell renewal without causing any damage or visible redness.

You won’t feel much during treatment – but give it a few hours, and most clients notice a visible difference. Smoother, clearer skin that looks like a beauty filter … without the filter!

Good to know

A: DPL is safe and effective for a wide range of skin tones. However, it isn’t suitable for all skin types, which is why we recommend a consultation before your first treatment — we’ll assess your skin tone and hair type to make sure DPL is the right fit for you.

A: Most clients describe DPL hair removal as a warm flick sensation. Our built-in cooling handpiece helps minimise any discomfort, making it one of the more comfortable hair removal options available.

A: It varies depending on the treatment area and the individual. Most clients see significant results across a series of sessions. We’ll give you a personalised estimate at your consultation once we’ve assessed your skin and hair type

A: We can treat most areas of the face and body. Popular areas include legs, underarms, bikini, face, and upper lip. Ask us about your specific area at your consultation.

A: None at all. You may notice a little redness immediately after treatment but this typically settles within a few hours. You can carry on with your day as normal.

A: The NIR and DPL are separate treatments — when we’re doing hair removal, the machine is set specifically for that purpose, and vice versa. If you’re interested in both, we’d love to build them into your treatment plan. Just mention it at your consultation and we can talk through the best approach for you.
